The weather this time of year is highly unpredictable-expect 30 degrees Fahrenheit at night and as possibly as high as 80 during the day-so bring layers to stay comfortable.

Most important of all, the weather affects the length of seasonal road closures on the way to the Freestone Inn. The most direct route from Seattle is to the famous and beautiful North Cascades Highway, Highway 20. Highway 20 is closed all winter and reopens in late April to early May. On average, Highway 20 has been open long before May 3rd, but make sure to check before you depart! The alternate route is Highway 2, but complete directions are available at www.freestoneinn.com.

First, check for the status of "N. Cascades." This is most direct route to Mazama from Seattle. If that road is closed in the week before the wedding, plan on taking Highway 2 across Stevens Pass if you're coming from Seattle. You can also check on the status of Stevens Pass at the link above.
